UAE ranked fourth in global mobile broadband speed test in November

UAE has moved one place higher to rank fourth in the global mobile broadband speed test in November, according to Ookla’s Global Speed Test Index.

The Emirate was ranked fifth in October reading after Australia but in November, Australia is ranked fifth.

The global average download speed is 30.93Mbps in November while the upload speed is 11.88Mbps.

In the UAE, the average download speed is 69.72Mbps while the upload speed is 21.85Mbps.

The average download speed in the UAE in October was 65.29Mbps while the upload speed was 20.83Mbps.

The global speed test compares internet speed data from around the world every month. Data for the index comes from the hundreds of millions of tests taken by real people using speed test every month.

The top three countries which remained unchanged are South Korea, Qatar and Norway.

In October, the average download speed in South Korea was 112.77Mbps while it was 75.02Mbps in Qatar and 69.53Mbps in Norway but in November, the average download speed in South Korea is 117.79Mbps while it is 77.07Mbps in Qatar and 72.80Mbps in Norway.

When compared to other Gulf Cooperation Countries, Saudi Arabia is ranked eight places higher at 14th with a download speed of 51.80Mbps, Kuwait jumped one places higher at 33rd with a download speed of 43.28Mbps, Oman moved one place lower to 36th with a download speed of 40.03Mbps while Bahrain jumped two places higher to 47th with a download speed of 34.98Mbps.

Making further inroads

In the fixed broadband space, UAE jumped one place higher to 29th with an average download speed of 90.27Mbps while the average upload speed is 36.90Mbps.

The global average download speed improved from 70.68Mbps in October to 71.55Mbps in November while the upload speed is 38.91Mbps in November compared to 38.23Mbps in October.

The top three countries are Singapore, South Korea and Hong Kong.

In Singapore, the average download speed is 193.21Mbps while it is 164.12Mbps in South Korea and it is 157.64Mbps in Hong Kong.

When compared to other Gulf Cooperation Countries, Qatar jumped one place higher to rank 41st with a download speed of 72.48Mbps, followed by Kuwait jumped six places to 49th with a download speed of 58.47Mbps, Saudi Arabia jumped three places higher to 54th with 50.68Mbps, Oman jumped one place higher to 85th with 29.27Mbps, Bahrain fell two places lower to 91st with 27.18Mbps.
